Message from Fr. Jim Lenihan

As I begin my ministry as the new Moderator of Kilcummin Parish, taking over from Fr. Kieran O’Brien, I would like to express my sincere thanks to him for his dedicated and faithful service to the people of Kilcummin since 2019. We wish him every blessing and happiness as he takes up his new responsibilities in Rathmore Parish. I would also like to thank Fr. Vitalis Barasa for his two years of generous ministry to the parish and wish him every blessing as he begins his new ministry as Parish Priest of Ballymacelligott Parish. At the same time, we warmly welcome Fr. Pat O’Donnell and Fr. Seán Murphy to the team of priests serving Kilcummin as part of the Killarney Pastoral Area. Together with Fr. Joe Begley, Fr. Noel Spring, and Fr. Pádraig Kennelly, we are committed to serving the people of Kilcummin and, with God’s grace, continue building up His Kingdom among us.

A Presentation will be made to Fr. Kieran and Fr. Vitalis on Monday. Anyone who would still like to contribute over the weekend can do so at the masses, Parish office, or Kilcummin P.O. Thank you for your generosity and support.

Changes in Our Parish: As we say farewell to Fr. Kieran and Fr. Vitalis, we thank them sincerely for their dedicated service, kindness, and spiritual guidance during their time in our parish. We wish them every blessing, happiness, and good health as they begin their new ministries, and we assure them of our prayers and gratitude. At the same time, we extend a warm welcome to Fr. Pat O’Donnell and Fr. Sean Murphy who have joined the Pastoral Area Team. We look forward to their ministry among us and pray that they will feel at home in Kilcummin. May God bless them as they begin this new chapter, and may our parish continue to grow in faith and friendship.

Reflection

Lord, make me an instrument of your love.

Where the darkness of loneliness reigns

let me bring the light of friendship.

Where the darkness of bitterness reigns

let me bring the light of forgiveness.

Where the darkness of hurt reigns

let me bring the light of healing.

Where the darkness of discord reigns

let me bring the light of harmony.

Where the darkness of sadness reigns

let me bring the light of joy.

Where the darkness of doubt reigns

let me bring the light of faith.

Where the darkness of despair reigns

let me bring the light of hope.

And where the darkness of hatred reigns

let me bring the light of love.

 Amen.
