EAST KERRY MINOR CHAMPIONSHIP

Listry 1-17 Kilcummin 2-12. In an enthralling East Kerry minor championship tie playing in glorious sunshine in Kilcummin on Sunday, our boys came up just short, when a goal and a point in the space of 60 seconds in the 5th minute of injury time tipped the scales in Listry’s favour. 2-2 from Darragh Keane and 0-2 from Derry O’Gorman in the first half saw us lead by 2-4 to 0-7 at half time. Listry started the second half brightly however and had 4 unanswered points in the opening 10 minutes to lead by 0-11 to 2-4. Our lads settled again however and driven on by the excellent Zach Cronin, Jack Ahern and Cian Stack, and with Darragh Keane and second half substitute Rory O’Connor causing huge problems for the Listry defence, we led by 2-8 to 0-11 on the 48th minute and with both teams exchanging scores thereafter we looked to have done enough until Listry struck late to snatch the win. Darragh Keane added a further 6pts in the second half to finish with 2-8 while Derry O’Gorman added 1 to his first half tally to end with 0-3 and Rory O’Connor scored 1 in that second period and was very unlucky when a goal bound effort went wide off the post with 10 minutes remaining. Team: Hugh McGuire, Derry O’Gorman (0-3), Liam Breen, Tristan Murphy, Oscar Lovett, Zach Cronin, Jack Ahern, Fionn McGuire, Cian Stack, Conor Finnegan, Mark Fleming, Brian McGuire, Eamon O’Donoghue, Joe O’Connor, Darragh Keane (2-8) Subs: Oran Lynch for Brian McGuire, Rory O’Connor (0-1) for Eamon O’Donoghue, Liam O’Mahony for Joe O’Connor, Conor O’Leary for Conor Finnegan.
