KILCUMMIN GAA
KERRY PETROLEUM COUNTY INTERMEDIATE CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI FINAL
Kilcummin 1-18 Glenflesk 1-14
Played in Spa on Sunday in very damp conditions, this was an extremely close contest until extra time when our boys outscored the opposition seven points to three in that period, having finished 1-11 a piece at the final whistle.
After 15 minutes we led 0-4 to 0-3 with our points coming from Mikey Casey (0-2) Mark O’ Shea and Cian Foley. After 18 minutes Kevin McCarthy finished to the net following good work by Philip O'Leary but we were level on the 22nd minute following a Glenflesk goal and point. A two pointer from Sean O’Leary helped us lead at the break 1-06 to 1-05.
Mikey Casey added a further point but after 15 minutes of this half we trailed by two. The brothers Sean and Philip O'Leary took over the scoring and added a further four points to see us lead by a single point with five minutes remaining. Glenflesk’s late point meant extra time was a reality. Throughout the second half our defence led by Dara Stack in particular played very well against a potent Glenflesk attack.
Full Time score 1-11 each.
Extra time saw us take control of the contest with man-of -the- match Philip O’ Leary converting the good work by kicking four points. Mikey Casey 0-2 and Matt Keane completed the scoring and our reward is a place in the final this Sunday @ 3.30 pm in Fitzgerald Stadium against Fossa. Well done to our players and management who have shown great resilience and ability to reach the concluding stage of this very competitive Championship. Good Luck in the final.
